PLANNING THE GREAT EXPEDITION
In June-July 1998 three Italian researchers (Giuseppe Longo, Mario Di Martino, Romano Serra) participated to the Krasnoyarsk Tunguska Conference and made an in situ
recognition on the lake Cheko.
At the Krasnoyarsk Conference, the tasks and organization of the
Tunguska99 expedition were illustrated asking for suggestions of
Russian colleagues. Details of the local support from Russian personnel
and researchers were agreed with N.V. Vasilyev and G.V. Andreev.
Andrey and Viktor Chernikov
assisted the Italian team in the recognition on the lake Cheko. The
necessary measurements were made to plan were the habitable tents,
field laboratories and services could be placed. Subsequently, Igor Doroshin directed the building of the camp at some hundreds kilometres from centres connected by roads.
