Quantum Spin Chains, Loop Models and Alternating Sign Matrices

Abstract

Remarkable connections between the components of the groundstate eigenvector of the XXZ chain at $\Delta=-1/2$ and various combinatorial problems have been recently discovered. After a short review, some new results on the Fully Packed Loop (FPL) model will be presented.
