On the 29th of July 1999, Moscow customs confiscated the rock and lacustrine sediment samples collected by the Tunguska99 Scientific expedition. The Department of Physics of the Bologna University, in collaboration with the Moscow Research Institute of Aviation Systems (GosNIIAS) cleared up the numberous bureaucratic requirements necessary to obtain the release of the samples. After the radiographies, performed by Remet S. A. S. (Ceretolo, Bologna), the Cheko lacustrine sediment cores were sent for analyses to the Institute of Marine Geology (CNR, Bologna) .
