TUNGUSKA99 Expedition

The effects of the Tunguska explosion on the forest cover has been analyzed on the basis of the 1938 and 1999 aerophotosurveys (APS). From this comparison new data are obtained on the effects of a cosmic body impact on the forestland coverage, on the spectra reflected from the flora cover, on the Leaf Area Index and other vegetation indices. The local relief is not sufficient to explain the great differences observed in areas distant a few hundred meters one from another as, for example, the yellow circled areas 1 and 2 in the figure (see paper pdf, in Russian).

In the figure: green and blue rectangles - images from the 1999 APS; red rectangles - images from the 1938 APS; yellow circles - areas examined. The area 1 covers the point called "Fast Epicenter".
