COMPUTER SIMULATIONS OF
DEFECTS IN LIQUID CRYSTALS
INCLUDING THEIR RELATION
TO EXPERIMENT AND THEORY

The Workshop will consist of 5 working days with 12-13 lecturers.
The number of participants will be limited to about 50 to allow ample chances to take part in full to the proceedings and discussions of the Conference.

Tentatively the following topics will be covered:

  • Description of defects in liquid crystals
  • Simulation methodologies and computational advances
  • Mathematical models for the dynamics of defects
  • Lattice Spin Models
  • Non equilibrium molecular dynamics
  • Microstructures in liquid crystalline polymers
  • Confined systems
  • Lamellar materials
  • Colloidal inclusions in nematics
  • Liquid crystal cells
  • Open problems
